Atom 2009 - a brief update

Atom, globaly known for his vast variety of productions, collaborations and musical styles, has been releasing music since almost 20 years now. His catalogue includes works with and for artists such as Depeche Mode, Air, Bill Laswell, Yellow Magic Orchestra, Towa Tei, just to name a few. For Atom the last years were no different from the early years and his amount and quality of production hasn't changed. Amongst countless compositions which were released worldwide, the years 2008 and 2009 saw the production of a movie soundtrack (hungarian movie !Bibliotheque Pascal!) together with Burnt Friedman as !Flanger!, music for the dance piece !Llamame Mariachi! for spanish choreographer !Maria Ribot! (premiere at Centre Pompidou in Paris this November), remixes for !Towa Tei!, !Bomb the Bass! amongst others and of course the critically acclaimed !Liedgut! album (released on !Raster-Noton!) which was nominated for Germany's highest music award, !Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik!. Since 2007 Atom has retaken his solo live activities which he had paused for over 10 years. During the last 3 years Atom performed this new solo show, in which he plays audio and video in realtime, using a very small technical setup on stage, all around the world. Starting in Tokyo (premiere 2007) he continued performing across the planet (Montreal (Mutek.ca), !Offf Festival! Lissabon, Madrid, Sonar Barcelona, Exil Zuerich, Jazz House Copenhagen and others). His live show is being permanently updated and renewed and will go into version 3 by the end of this year. Apart from the live activities, a new !Atom! album, entitled !Muster!, will be released in November through Atom's own !Rather Interesting! label and by then a collaboration with japanese artist Masaki Sakamoto will have been completed and due to be released. The rest of 2009 will be filled with remastering his entire backcatalogue of approximately 1500 titles and some more album productions still untitled.
